Glen Calleja’s ‘SOMNVM’ is a poetic narrative exploring sleep and its seductive powers.
The work engages in dialogue with passages and characters from the Old Testament that address drowsiness, sleep, or death. It also draws inspiration from Jewish mythology and mysticism, as well as ideas from Maltese folklore. Published by the Jesuits’ Church Foundation, ‘SOMNVM’ won the 2024 National Book Prize for Poetry.
